Poker Hall of Fame Selects NLOP.com Spokesman for Entry

Lone Nominee To Be Enshrined
NLOP.com has become the #1 Website for Free-Play Enthusiasts To Play Poker and Win Prizes

Las Vegas, NV (October 21, 2009) Zen Gaming, LLC. the parent company of The National League of Poker (www.nlop.com) casual gaming portal is pleased to announce that NLOP.com spokesman Mike Sexton has been elected to The Poker Hall of Fame. Mike is recognized as one of the most influential figures in poker history.

“What a great honor is for Mike to receive this industry-wide recognition,” said Michael Clebnik, COO of Zen Gaming. “It is fitting that Mike earned this recognition singularly, as he is truly one-of-a-kind. Mike agreed to become NLOP.com spokesman when we were just starting out, Clebnik continued. “He recognized that our free-to-play advergaming model provided poker enthusiasts with the ability to play tournament-style poker and have the chance to win great prizes without any financial risk.”

Mike is the 38th person to be inducted since the Hall was founded in 1979. The were nine nominees for entry and  each voter selected up to three candidates, but in order to be inducted the nominees would need over 75% of the field’s combined votes. Mike Sexton was the only man to appear on enough ballots to gain election.

Mike became the NLOP spokesman in April 2008 and has an impressive resume as a player.  Over his career he has recorded 46 WSOP cashes, and in 2006 he won the WSOP Tournament of Champions. Earning his reputation as “The Ambassador of Poker”, he donated half of his prize winnings to charity. Many people know Mike as the smooth voice and face of the World Poker Tour, as the poker boom crossed over into the mainstream. Fellow Poker pro Howard Lederer stated recently that, “In terms of making this poker boom happen, he’s the most important pro there was.”

Sexton released a statement shortly after learning of his acceptance. “I am deeply honored to be inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame and it is particularly special because for the first time it was a process that involved the fans, the media, and the living members of the Hall of Fame. To me, the most meaningful aspect of this process was the acceptance by the living Hall of Famers, who welcomed me into their exclusive club.”

The official ceremony is scheduled to take place on November 7th.
