David Marshall Wins a Once in a Lifetime WSOP* Package
April 2nd, 2007
My thoughts on the tournament: I had a few strategies I used in winning this seat. First was to be observant and take advantage of position when I could. I didn’t want to get involved in any big hands early in the tourney. The play is just crazy in the early stages. When the blinds started getting bigger I tried to take as many blinds as I could, uncontested. When I did go all in, I made sure I went in with the best hand. There were 2 hands I can remember that I didn’t have the best, but I lucked out on both…fortunately for me.
I heard about NLOP during the Milwaukee’s Best Light tournament and have been playing there ever since. It’s the only poker site I play on.
My advice to other players would be to always go with your gut. If you get a good feeling when you look at a hand, raise it before the flop….even if its 74 suited. If you flop a big hand you almost always get money. If the flop doesn’t hit you, you can sometimes take it anyways, as you displayed strength before the flop. Intuition is huge.
I have been playing poker my whole life almost. I used to site on my father’s lap while he raked in the pots. I started playing hold’em 5 or 6 years ago and lost a lot of money before becoming a consistent winner. I mostly play live games in my area. I try to play as much as I can, but sometimes I only get to play once during the week. NLOP is the only online site I play at and I’ve never been to a real casino.
NLOP is great because it’s perfect for people like me who don’t have the money for things such as WSOP sears or even big games for that matter. I have recommended it to all my poker friends. Thank you for your service. I’ll be proud to wear NLOP’s merchandise at the world series. Thanks for this once in a lifetime opportunity.
