Barry on a Recent Trip to Mexico

To start, I heard about the website from a friend. I have played several forms of poker for about 10 years now, and escalated my amount of playing heavily in the last four to five years. With the new found popularity of the World Series of Poker it was suddenly much easier to find a game, or several. I was always most successful in the live arena, and definitely in tournaments.

My main strategy is to first and foremost play good hands and then to play my position. Once I decide on a hand and position I am an aggressive player, but my aggression is always very calculated and checked. I would stick to this game plan and avoid big losses, and then throw a few variations when I would have a gut feeling or feel I had picked up on a tell from another player.

I began playing online, but would never play for money. I always enjoyed free sites, although the challenge was lessened as the chips really had no meaning and many players would play with no consistency at all. When I found NLOP it was much better. Suddenly I could win money without putting any in, and I was finding players who would play the game to win. It was a perfect match. Not only did I gain the opportunity to win money, I gained what I desired most, true competition.

My internet playing style has improved dramatically since joining NLOP, and is basically the same as my live strategy. The only difference is I do a lot more looking for a player's style than a particular tell. There are many different style players on the site, and I remember particular players and how they react. This gives me a better chance to avoid folding to the big bluff, which I see more often here than in a live game. I am very happy to be a member of NLOP and have helped a few of my friends join.
